Don’t fudge up

Don’t fudge up

There’s a big party coming up and you want to serve your guests some homemade fudge for dessert, but all you can manage to dish out is a pasty concoction! There’s still hope says, Ofen’s Bosco Malapatti. Fudge is one of the easiest desserts to whip up if you get the proportions right.

w When you make a fudge the one thing to keep in mind is that it is a gooey confection and when you bite into it, you should feel the chocolate all around your mouth. So the consistency is an important factor.

w Mix the cocoa powder with hot water to make some hot chocolate and soak nuts of your choice for 30 minutes. The idea is to make nuts a little gooey when they are baked.

w When you are mixing the hot chocolate with the sugar and flour, ensure that there are no lumps. Use a good beater to whip it.

w Another important thing to keep in mind is not to overdo the baking powder. Excessive baking powder will make the fudge rise very high while baking and once it is taken out of the oven, it will fall flat.

w Before baking the fudge, ensure that your oven is pre-heated at least 30 minutes earlier. The fudge should be baked at 180oC 200oC for 40 minutes. If the oven is over-heated the fudge will burn.
